What Was Eve's Problem?

In the second chapter of Genesis we read that Adam and Eve were given everything they needed in the Garden of Eden.   They were given: a perfect home with all things provided; a perfect environment; a perfect companion; a perfect relationship with the Creator; a perfect love. What more could they have wanted? I mean the Garden of Eden had it all.  Yet ~ Eve wanted something more. Something she did not have. Leave it to a woman to want to be a "know it all!.

She wanted the one thing that was forbidden to her. The one thing God said she could not have~ the fruit from the Tree of Good and Evil. But what was it about her appetite that wanted to have more than perfect communion and fellowship with All Mighty God?

The enemy slithered in to tempt her at just at the right time. She wanted to know just what it was that God was holding out on her. There was something more she did not have~ she wanted it "all." She was ripe for the picking because she was looking for more.

Why? As a woman I have a speculation to this great fall of man. I think Eve was not content with what she had~ she had an ungrateful heart. She was not satisfied with a relationship with God Himself ~ she thought she needed something more. Let's come clean ~ we are all tempted with this problem at times. Are we not?

Gratitude keeps us grounded in the truth and keeps us alert to the lies in life. If Eve would have been praising God and content with what she had~ who she was~ and who was in her life~ she would not have been tempted. Being ungrateful keeps us groping in the dark looking for things that will never satisfy.

There is a song I sing and it goes like this~
Only Jesus can satisfy your soul ~ only He can take your life and make it whole. He'll give you peace you never knew~ sweet love and joy and Heaven too. For only Jesus can satisfy your soul.

Psalm 100:4

King James Version (KJV)
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Be Thankful
Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you’re tired and weary
Because it means you’ve made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are
also thankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles
and they can become your blessings.

Great word for today Carrie. The world around us can be sooo loud....tv, computer, radio, magazines...all of these can be enjoyable but great ways for satan to slither up and bring discontentment to our lives...My house does not look like that. I do not look like that...I want that! So difficult to keep our focus...that is why Word based blogs are so important to me...Beauty with truth.. Lord, help me to be content in you (Lord)! Thanks and blessings!

I really liked the title of this post!! Cause really she had it all. I want to keep my heart in a place of gratitude! We are suppose to remind each other of this often.
We girls just need to stay close to the Father and not to all the things and stuff in the world. Because that is all the world can offer (stuff).
Blessings, Roxy
